Dear Mountain Vista School Families and Staff,
As we have shared with you recently, we have had a number of people at our school who have tested positive for COVID-19. We are following guidance from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment regarding isolation and quarantine of affected individuals. The people who tested positive are in isolation. Those who have been identified as close contacts with these people are in quarantine.
These latest cases have resulted in quarantines involving a large number of staff members, in addition to many of our students. Due to the lack of available substitute teachers to cover in-person classes, we have made the decision to transition all learning at MVHS to Remote learning beginning on Thursday, November 12. There is no in-person school tomorrow.
Providing the high-quality educational experience the Douglas County School District is known for is difficult with so many MVHS staff members in quarantine. While substitute teachers do an incredible job stepping in when needed, the resource pool is limited.
With our focus on the health and safety of our staff and students, combined with providing the best education possible, we made the decision to transition to Remote learning. MVHS will follow their regular class and cohort schedule for the duration of this Remote learning period, meaning that students will be accessing classes remotely from home during their regular cohort day at the scheduled class time. The school will share additional information about the schedule soon.
Students will return to in-person learning on or after Monday, November 30, based on their cohort schedule.
Athletics and activities will continue as scheduled per CHSAA guidelines. Students who are not currently quarantined can continue with practices and competitions as previously scheduled while following CHSAA and program guidelines.
Please monitor your family’s health during this time. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and/or shortness of breath. Other symptoms can include sore throat, congestion/runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache/body aches and new loss of taste or smell. If you have a concern, please contact your medical provider for guidance.

Thank you for doing your part in keeping our students and staff healthy and safe.
