As you can imagine, getting this information the day before Emmett's birthday party has been devastating for Emmett. We have to cancel the party tomorrow. His friends will still drop off gifts, but he is so so so sad and cried at school when they told the class. I just absolutely hate this for him!

Dear Parents,
This communication is being sent to families of impacted sixth-grade students at Bear Canyon Elementary School. We recently learned that your child was in close contact with a person at our school who has developed symptoms commonly associated with COVID-19.
The person showing symptoms is in isolation. Because your child was in close contact with this person, your child should enter into quarantine. During this time, your child should stay home and not go to other schools, activities, childcare providers, or activities around other people. If you choose to get tested, please know that a negative test result only means that you did not have the virus detected at the time of testing. A negative test does not release an individual from
quarantine.
Per Colorado Department of Health and Environment guidelines, the quarantine will be in effect through the end of the day on Tuesday, November 24. Students who are quarantined may resume regular activities on Wednesday, November 25.
While your student is quarantined, learning will continue remotely. Your school will provide additional information soon. If you have other children, they can still go to school unless their sibling gets sick or tests positive for COVID-19.
Please Note: You will receive a second communication soon that is being sent to all parents and staff members at Bear Canyon Elementary School.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and/or shortness of breath. Other symptoms can include sore throat, congestion/runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache/body aches and new loss of taste or smell. If you have a concern, please contact your medical provider for guidance.
To learn more about DCSD’s health and safety mitigation measures, please visit this website. We will also continue to follow recommendations found on the Colorado Department of Education’s COVID-19 resources for schools page.
Thank you for doing your part in keeping our students and staff healthy and safe.
