More remote learning for Atticus:(-but he is happy!

 September 23, 2020

Dear Parents,

You recently received communication from Douglas County School District Health and Wellness regarding a positive COVID-19 test at our school. Those that are being asked to quarantine have received communication asking them to quarantine. You will need to monitor for symptoms though due to the connection to the Purple group.

Due to the heavy demand for substitute teachers throughout Colorado, as well as our desire to ensure a consistent learning experience for our students, all students in the Purple group will be learning remotely starting Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 through end of day Monday, Oct. 5, 2020. This will allow all students to interact virtually with their teachers and will allow instruction to continue with minimal interruption.

Because of the significant impact of this quarantine on our community, we feel that all of our learners in Purple group will be best served by this temporary move to virtual learning. The Purple group will follow the linked schedule for Sept. 24 - Oct. 5.

On Oct. 6, Cohort B will return to in-person learning with Cohort A having an at home, independent learning day. Oct. 7 will be the first in-person learning day for Cohort A with Cohort B having an at home, independent learning day.

Additionally, Purple group students WILL NOT participate in any activities after school on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Students not in quarantine may resume participation on Thursday, Sept. 24.

End of day dismissal on Wednesday, Sept. 23 will go on as normal with no adjustments.

To learn more about DCSD’s health and safety mitigation measures, please visit this website. We will also continue to follow recommendations found on the Colorado Department of Education’s Covid-19 resources for schools.

Thank you for working with us during this time.
