 May 2020

Dear MRMS Families,

During the week of May 18-22, MRMS will allow our students and parents/guardians to pick up personal belongings left at the school and drop off items to be returned (i.e. textbooks, library books, etc.) through a curbside process on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday, May 20 will be used for MVHS senior check out.

In order to maintain the safety of our families and staff, students and parents/guardians will not be permitted inside DCSD buildings during this time.

Pick up/drop off is not required. If you are unable to make it on these dates and times, all items will be held at MRMS until the building is open.

We ask that you remain in the vehicle during this process, and wear an approved face mask if possible. Also, limit the number of people coming to pick up or drop off items if possible. Our school staff will wear protective gloves and masks throughout this process. Our staff will load items for pick up into your vehicle’s empty trunk or other designated area.

When you arrive at MRMS for pick up/drop off you will follow signage and/or the indicated traffic pattern. Depending on the amount of vehicles, you will travel through the MVHS parking lot(s)/bus loop, as well as the MRMS parking lot.

There will be stations along the way for various purposes:

  • Drop off library books and textbooks, drop off other items borrowed from school (technology, sports jersey)

    • 7th graders may keep their borrowed technology regardless if they borrowed it from MRMS or the district

    • 8th graders need to turn in their borrowed technology regardless if they borrowed it from MRMS or the district

  • Pick up yearbook and bagged personal items from school

    • Gym locker items will be returned in labeled bags. If your child shares a locker with another student and your student has items that do not have their name on it, please email Steve Lopez (sjlopez@dcsdk12.org) or Lucas Reeves (lucas.reeves@dcsdk12.org) with the following information so we can sort those items:

      • Your student’s name, grade, team and locker number

      • A description of the items (ie. black shoes with a red stripe etc.)

  • Pick up medicine left at MRMS

Prior to coming to pick up/drop off items, please be sure to:

  1. Label all items that your student will be returning to their school with their name and grade level.

  2. Empty the trunk/rear compartment of your vehicle of all materials except those items that will be returned to the school. Keep that area clear for items to be placed in there at pick up.

  3. Write the student(s) last name on a piece of paper and affix it to the upper righthand corner of the vehicle windshield on the inside.

A little driving practice at the high school.

Sometimes your clothes just get in the way when you are trying to jump on the trampoline-so you have to do what anyone else would do-throw them in the tree!

Greer wrote the best mother's day song for me.  It's a little singing and little rapping. And she even included a blooper reel!

Hey Hey! I’ve been partying with my mother.

Picking out presents for my mother.

Trying to come up with a song for my mother.

Don’t know what present to pick because she’s too good, too good, for me, for me.

Oh she makes me fall to my death.

My mother makes me drop.

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh .

Oh it is like feeling a heartache but by my mother

She makes it go, go, go away like it was never there.

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh.

I just wanted to say something that will last forever.

I don’t know the right words to say.

I love my mother, mother. With all my heart.

I would die for my mother so she could live forever.

Because I love her so much.

P.S. It's Greer!

Still losing teeth in 8th grade!

Is anyone else concerned about this tooth?!  I keep telling the orthodontist that this tooth in the middle of her mouth is freaking me out!

Greer on her zoom call with her class. Atticus' teacher left some cold stone on the porch for him💖

Mud Room is Finished!

The mud room is finished and I love it!  I'm hoping we will really use the big wall calendar.  Unfortunately, we did have a slight issue 2 days after we finished.  It seemed like the wood floor war warping just a little more each day as if it was getting water damage.  We looked EVERYWHERE, but couldn't find anything strange, so we just chalked it up to some "movement" due to the new tile.  But we did eventually hear a strange hissing sound...ran to the crawl space, and discovered water dripping all in the cral space and into the basement bathroom and into the storage room.  We hit a pipe with a nail from the nail gun and that little leak had been spraying for days and had flooded parts of the basement.  😩. All of that work and we had to tear into the walls and fix it.  ugh!  That was so deflating, but it is all fixed and we are back in business!

Words of wisdom from Greer.  You just never know what you will find written on the white board in her room.
