Personal narrative

The Day that Changed my Life Forever

By Atticus Taylor

Have you ever had a feeling that your life was about to change forever? Well, it happened to me and it is quite a story! One day me and my sister we're home feeling ill. She got an ear infection. The next day my ear started hurting. So I had to go to the doctor. I did not have one but my mom texted my dad to get a blood draw. It was not fun. Then we went back up to the room. Then the doctor whispered something to my dad. They took me to the room next to us.

The doctors gave me 2 ½ bottles of gatorade, I don't know why. Then all of a sudden, 2 people came with a hospital bed. They moved me onto the bed and took me to the ambulance. I was sad, overwhelmed, and scared. I could not believe what I heard the doctor whisper to my dad " He has diabetes." I thought to myself, "Diabetes?" What kind did I have? Because it would go away so I did not have to take care of it. I knew all about it because someone in my class has diabetes. In the ambulance they gave me shots the hole way there! It was terrible even when we got there they gave me shots. Even in my wrist. I hope it will never happen again.

Next my grandma came A.S.A.P to take care of my siblings. Unfortunately I could not eat for two days(apart from ice)! There was nothing to do but watch a little number of movies! Then they gave me this medicine. It was ORANGE and you could probably guess it was awful. The worst thing EVER. Every hour they gave me a shot. Even in the middle of the night! All the time shots and SHOTS. It was annoying. It was boring only movies. Sleeping. And waiting. I hated it.

Then I got my electronic devices from my siblings. My diabetes doctor came and told me I could go home tomorrow after I had an appointment at the diabetes center. I could not wait, it was amazing. For the first time since we got in the ambulance I got out of bed and started to walk! Then my grandma came while they were at school. We told her. She was so happy. We were all very happy. We could not wait. When it got close they gave me yummy food. I had to wait before we left. When we left I was so happy.

Finally we left for the diabetes center I brought breakfast because I never had enough time to finish it. They talked to me for awhile, showed me my supplies. All my pokers good candy. My bag too. Then I fell asleep for like six hours because they did not need to talk to me anymore. By the time I woke up it was dark out. My parents were just finishing up getting my supplies. Then after that we went home. It was a long drive home. But worth it I was so happy!

THE END
