Every time Max goes to a friend's for a sleepover, he always ends his night with a FaceTime call to me. I just love it! It doesn't matter if it's midnight or 10 pm, he'll call and tell me goodnight. It's just so sweet and I know he won't want to do that much longer. He helped serve communion at church this weekend and I was just so proud of him. 😍

Atticus's first Battle of the Books and his school won!!

QU wedding!

Our last Q+U wedding.

Everyone got a Snackeez this morning!

Happy Valentine's! Greer made a box that is all about her with pictures. Emmett made a green angry bird. Max freshened up his Godzilla from last year. And Atticus made snitch from Harry Potter. It was a tough morning for Atticus...the first school party with diabetes. I cried with him this morning. Diabetes is tough. 😢

Well his team didn't win, but Atticus played and he scored!

JuJu came right out and saved the day.  It was the first time I had seen Atticus smile since he went into the hospital.  She is leaving tomorrow.  She was a lifesaver for us.

Another tooth gone! Fell out at school during lunch.

Seems like a baby step, but it's huge!

This guy is so happy! 😊. It's his 1st day back, and he has already done 3 finger pricks and gotten one insulin shot at school! That's 4 pricks and 3 shots and it's only 12:00😳
Sweet Greer came in my room early this morning for a little snuggle time. She told me sometimes at school her head hurts and her tummy hurts. I asked her if she's afraid she has diabetes. She said yes and started crying😢. I reassured her...reminding her of this weekend when we made everyone prick their finger and check their blood sugar. Today is Atticus first day back at school. He was ready this morning. He's nervous and a little scared. It's so hard to see him having to grow up overnight.

Father -daughter dance😍

Dad is 40!

This is not quite how we thought we'd be celebrating this big day, but I'm just so glad we are all here together:)

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. Each and everyone of you. It has meant so much! Atticus labs are still not quite right, but the doctor said it's time for discharge. I'm nervous and scared and overwhelmed, but I know the Lord is with us. One day at a time. We now go across the parking lot to the Barbara Davis Diabetes Center. We will be in diabetes school all day today and probably tomorrow. Again, thank you all. Please keep praying-praying that Atticus will keep improving and that the Lord will continue to give us strength as we process and embrace our new life.
Waiting on lab results. If levels are better, we'll head to the diabetes center for a full day of diabetes school. Atticus is feeling better and looking better and so ready to get out of here. I, on the other hand, don't want us to leave until his body is ready...I don't want to be back in the ER tomorrow.

Progress!!! They are letting him drink and eat & he couldn't be happier!!!! His bicarbonate is still only 16, so hopefully it will go up soon.

Scary. Sad. God is with us.

He sent this back. 😢

On Tuesday, Max was able to stay home one more day with Atticus and Greer and I was planning on taking off and staying with then for the next few. Greer ear was still really oozing, so we thought another day would be good for her to be at home. Max texted me at 11 that Atticus was complaining of ear pain. So we scheduled an appointment for him at 1:30. The doctor confirmed the ear infection and prescribed antibiotics. I texted this to Max while they were there:

We don't know for sure how long it has been going on. He got a bad virus at Thanksgiving, so that might have been when. But we don't know. He wasn't feeling good on Friday and Greer wasn't either so I stayed home from school with them. He said his stomach hurt and Greer threw up a little and had a headache and fever and sore throat. Atticus said his throat hurt too. 3 kids in Greer's class had been diagnosed with the flu, so we thought that's what it was. As the weekend went on, Greer got worse and Atticus seemed to be better then low on energy then better again. Sunday afternoon Greer still had fever and said her ear was hurting. We scheduled an appointment for her for Monday morning at 8:30. Her ear got worse until she was in major pain. About 11 that night her pain seemed to stop. Atticus was complaining of his tummy so we gave him a bowl. Around midnight he brought the bowl full of
vomit into our room. That began the every 30 minutes of throwing up for the rest of the night. Greer woke up around 1 am and told me her "ear was sweating". Her eardrum had ruptured. After a long sleepless night, I got Greer to doc, got antibiotics and drops for the ruptured eardrum and left Max III, Atticus & Greer at home for the day while I went to work. Atticus finally stopped throwing up around 7 pm Monday night. He was peeing every few hours so I thought he wasn't dehydrated and he was just going through the flu process.
Here we are. He still in diabetic ketoacidosis. They were hoping he'd be out of it by now. But his levels have stopped going up-specifically his bicarbonate. It's gone from 5 to 14, which is good, but we need it at 22. He's been at 14 for the past 6 hours. Praying the levels will start moving again. It was a long night with lots of pokes and blood draws. We are exhausted. His ear is hurting from the ear infection and they are finally going to give him the antibiotics for that in half an hour.
